The 8 Plus is fine but some what cumbersome. I mainly got it because i got huge hands. I'm trying to figure out if I would prefer the XS Max or the XS. I mean, the huge screen is great but not sure how I would handle it. I like going to the gym/running but feel that sometimes my plus is a bit much to carry around....but could be because of the bezels.

Go to a store that has them on display and play around with them for a bit. The xs max to me feels just like a plus phone, as far as size of the phone goes. Screen makes it look huge though. I went from plus phones to the x to the xs max, and I’m loving this phone!

I went from plus phones (6S+, 7+, 8+) to an XS. I didn't mind the weight of the others, but the weight of the 8+ was too much for me. The XS has been a nice change. It's a lot more pocketable while the screen isn't that much smaller.

I had the 7 plus when it came out which I loved. Then went to the X last year and now to the Max which I love!! I prefer a bigger screen. The X just never did it for me. I tolerated it and knew Apple would eventually make the Max

I went from a 7 plus to X, always missed the wider keyboard. Now I’m quite happy with my Max. The bigger screen is the only reason I got it.

I haven’t had a smaller form factor since the 5S. I had 6P 7P skipped the 8P and have the Max.
I considered the XS but knew that I would feel better with the Max.

Nah, had the X too heavy for the size it is, screen not as big as 8 plus either. Max is weighted better and doesn't feel heavy, bit smaller than plus with bigger screen and the notch is not as noticeable.
May as well get a 8 if you are going down from 8 plus and save the $$, screen size not much different, i did while waiting for the Max.

I was convinced I wanted a smaller phone after having 6+ and 7+ (And since I bought an iPad Pro), but I use a 6s for work and when I really considered the size for things such as texting, I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t type on the 6s nearly as well as my plus devices.. I’m sure you would learn to adjust, but pre order day came and I couldn’t stay away from the Max!

The Xs Max is SMALLER than an 8+ in physical total size. Smaller phone, more screen, it's an upgrade in every way and the best of all worlds in my book. I am very pleasantly surprised at the Max's dimensions, actually....

The 8+ is a really good piece of hardware too and no slouch my any means but when I got the Max in hand I was really struck by the smaller feel. I expected an 8+ copy in physical size and was pleased to see it was a bit smaller. Not that much in measurement but is noticeable in hand.

I had the same issue... I originally got the 8 plus due to the second lens. just got the xs yesterday and loving the smaller size. The 8 plus was great while stationary but when on the move, it was too big. The xs feels great. And it doesn’t feel like I took a hit in screen real estate.

the xs is a better buy for most people imo. it's not like you're losing out on the camera department [like what apple did before with the previous gen versions... the xs max you have to ask is it worth 100USD extra for Bigger battery and screen size alone? i cant answer that for u...

normally i always suggest plus sized phones are better but in this case, it might be the opposite [the XS has the amazing camera setup without any missing querks]

6/6+ [plus had Optical stabilization (OS)]
6s/6s+ [plus had OS]
7/7+ [plus had 2lens for portrait mode]
8/8+ [plus had 2 lens for portrait mode]

so essentially apple just made xs max to cater for china audience since from a report it was said that chinese consumers were not happy with the size of the iPhone X and wanted bigger [so apple delivered, along with duo Sim]

The max is the heaviest and largest iPhone that has ever been made. It utilizes more screen relative to its size but it’s still large with no OS changes other than enlarged text.

We bought two XS phones and I really wanted to like the Max but wasn’t for either of us.

Went from a 6s+ to the XS. I returned it after one day and went with the max. Couldn’t get used to the smaller feel. I found it hard to type and knowing for $100 I could have the max it was a no brainer.

Up to you but IMO the XS is a downgrade overall. In fact, I’d rather keep my 7 Plus than go to the XS.

The true upgrade from the 8 Plus or 7 Plus is the Max. However I didn’t get that either since the price to get a Max over 64 GB is just crazy.

Coming from a Plus and you were comfortable with the plus in use? Go xS Max all the way :)

I came from 8 plus to xs max, amazing experience

XS Max. I came from an 8+. Even though the 8+ screen size is sort of the same as the XS, you are downgrading the battery capacity.
