Hi everyone,

Bit of advice please! I’ve just tried upgrading an iPod mini with a flash drive and in the process I think I broke something related to recognising the battery

When plugged in it very briefly shows the folder and exclamation Mark then boots into the syncing screen, Mac OS recognises it with 128gb of storage so all good there

As soon as I unplug it, it flashes the folder and exclamation icon and then dies - this is with a new battery

With the original battery put back in, it now does nothing but if I listen closely I can hear a quiet high pitched noise

Is there anything obvious I’m missing before I get another off eBay and try again?

Have you let it charge with a wall outlet for a while before trying to sync it? Some of these older iPods require more power than USB on a computer can give initially to keep it booted and charged at the same time from a dead charge.
