Am used to this in the iPhone and iPad threads but have searched and cant find a colour debate for the new rMB! Am in need on some banal chit chat re gold v space grey v silver

I've ordered a gold 1.3Ghz but went to the local Apple Store today and am now unsure about the colour. I like the gold closed but less sure about it open with the black keyboard against the gold. Another factor is that I currently have a gold 5s but am definitely going back to black (space grey) when next iPhone comes out as I dont like the white around the screen.......in which case it might be nice to have the space grey rMB so they match. But space grey rMB seems a bit serious and Dell like!

To be honest I like all 3 - I even like the silver because it feels like a shrunken version of my unibody macbook.

Most of all was shocked by how teeny tiny it is

With all the hype surrounding SG, I went into the Apple store last Friday and saw it with my own eyes. Well, I wasn't in the least impressed. IMO, it looks too dull. It just doesn't show the body lines well enough. To me, SG makes the new MacBook look like a cheap, dark SONY laptop.

Having quickly dismissed SG as a viable choice, it was between the gold and the silver. In certain lighting, both look very similar. Sometimes it's hard to tell them apart.

Ultimately, I chose silver because it's the "new space gray", given that it's now a rarity. I felt that silver showed the body of the laptop best out of the three. I think it looks "richer" and contrasts very nicely against the black buttons and bezel.

In my experience, space gray also shows scratches more than silver.

Here is my story about choosing a colour for rMB...

It won't be a long story.... I ordered my new rMB in gold just because it has the luxury feeling, reflecting my personality and personal lifestyle. My second reason is that it will match with my golden iPhone 6

Am now getting more confident on the basis the gold will look nice around the house lol!

I used to be all about silver but as I get older I love gold now! I do also like grey and gold together so I guess a gold rMB and SP iP6 will work for me!

They're all good...silver is traditional, low-key. Gold is actually more like champagne and is nowhere near as bling-y as you might think. Silver gray is the new black for all those who still yearn for the return of the old black MB. And...lots of other explanations and rationale. I really don't think there's a bad pick in the lot. ;)

I just wish the gold Iphone has a totally black glass front - that would look class and match the gold rMB better.

I never wanted the MacBook Air on the basis of the grey screen surround - never looked as nice as the unibody macbook/macbook pro to me!

That would indeed so much more classier than the white front...hopefully Apple will make that option in the next serie of iPhones

They WILL LOOK GREAT with the gold macbook!! DO you recommend them?

I recommend the Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H3 in gold for sure!!! The sound is just the amazing sound standard which Bang & Olufsen always deliver to their products! The design and fitting in-ear is astonishing is my opinion!

Totally off topic but I am spoiled with Bang & Olufsen because I've everything from it expect a notebook.....but therefore we've Apple which fits excellent with the rest of my B&O products

Hahaha talking about matching the colour and headphones... I've bought Bang & Olufsen H3 in gold sooooo only I'm missing is my new rMB, when I get it it will match everything :D

I think the shiny plastic gold beats headphones would look outstanding with the gold rMB. Is the Gold iPhone a black bezel? I never looked as I am a Moto X owner preferring the feel of leather to metal in a phone.

So, i took delivery of a 1.3 rMB just today. I am not a "hey look at me" type of person and I feel a gold laptop from any company is garish. What can I say, I'm English / Scottish. That said, the SG I ordered is defiantly a finger print magnet and it does look like a cheap plastic finish IMO. A do over would have me getting the boring Silver. Then again, looking like a $200.00 Asus 2 in 1 might make it less likely of getting my computer stolen out of my lap whilst sipping a Starbucks...

The title of this thread is wrong.

It should read: "I chose gold - was that wrong?"

:)
