I've been a web developer for 11 years. In the process I've learn to handcode HTML, CSS, PHP, mySql and manipulate javascript.

In january I'll have some free time and would like to learn a new langage. I hesitate between learning more Javascript, Ajax or ASP.

What would be your recommandation for the best use of my very rare free time?

You might want to consider looking at Ruby and Ruby on Rails. It's growing in popularity and is easy to learn. You my also want to look at Adobe AIR as a possible fun thing to learn. Then there's the classic languages for CGI using Perl or Python.

Might I recommend Ruby and Facebook?

I just returned from startup weekend LA ( http://la.startupweekend.com ) and I learned Ruby on Rails and Facebook programming on the spot to help our dev team create a facebook game called Frenemies. Rails is a lot of fun and seems a lot better than my primary language PHP for starting new web apps.

I wouldn't do anything with ASP ! If you want to learn more I'd learn more about AJAXish JavaScript / DOM.

It really depends on what you want to do though. If web design (and not apps) are your thing, Ruby on Rails would probably be the best choice!

Right now I'm learning more AJAX:)
