Have to upgrade through iTunes before using redsn0w?

iPhone 4 GSM currently on 4.3.1, wanting to go to 4.3.3 to improve battery mainly, do I HAVE to upgrade through iTunes, then jailbreak through redsn0w, or can I just go through redsn0w from 4.3.1?

Probably a stupid question, just wondering.

You can jailbreak with redsn0w now but if you want 4.3.3 you must upgrade via itunes, no way around that.
