have to wear N95 mask and gloves at work, how do I use banking app that requires Face ID or Touch ID? (well... the alternative is having to enter the bank acct password every single time)

I have two iPhones(SE and 12) and not sure how I can get around this problem.

thanks!

You really don’t have an option.
Unless the new unlock feature when where an Apple Watch also works on those apps, you are likely screwed.

I have touch id so this won't help, but my buddy with face id confirmed this worked for him.

Is it difficult removing your mask for a split second?
Is it not possible to do your personal stuff outside working hours, or during lunch time where you are not wearing a mask?

I mean I'm not sure that this is even a problem. And if you are wearing a glove, you won't even be able to operate the phone well anyway, so might as well do things when you're not wearing those things.

You can’t use it. There’s no solution even the Apple Watch unlock requires Authentication for apps such as banking.

Or got to the bathroom authenticate by Touch ID and wash hands and put on another pair of gloves. But seriously I don’t think there’s an easy solution. Chock this up to the way the pandemic had changes our behavior.

Seriously?

You've never looked at your phone or carried out any personal business on work time! I'm not having it!
The OP said his work requires wearing gloves. Even if the OP can authenticate, what are the chances of operating the smartphone properly, and do transactions in a personal bank account, while wearing gloves?

Wouldn't it make more sense to just do it during breaks or lunch time?

He obviously can authenticate as he states that the alternative is entering his password everytime.

No need to state the obvious that it would be easier to wait until a dedicated break, he clearly doesn't want to wait or else he wouldn't be asking questions.

I don't know of any third party app that uses Touch/Face ID APIs that doesn't allow using your passcode when authentication fails. I thought it was written into the API.
I'll happily concede if I'm wrong.

In the scenario you've described no cell phone/tablet will work so I suggest bringing a laptop and using that for your banking needs during your workday...

On your banking app set up some alerts so when your wife spends over "x" amount it sends you a notification. This way you don't have to constantly log into the banking app to check for this. 🤣

How do the other people there handle this dilemma? (rolls eyes)

Why not just go to their website via Safari and log in automatically via Keychain?
Banking apps are overrated and unnecessary (I've found).

Really? I have 3 different banking apps from 3 different banks, and they all work great. Banking apps have improved a lot the last few years. They’re way quicker and easier to use for simple transactions than their respective website versions, from my experience. Also being able to quickly log in with face-id is great.

Wearing a mask caused problems with face I.D. Apple has chosen to allow Apple Watch. running 14.5 to unlock your iPhone
While this is a temporary fix the truth is we need both Touch ID. ( underscreen or on power button)
And Face ID.
At first it was rumored by Ming Chi Kuo. And Mark Gurman that it was coming in 2021 however now they’re saying no

I don't know about that. My banking needs are quite simple, but my bank's app is waaaaaay more convenient than dealing with their website, especially on mobile. I mean, that's literally the purpose of apps, to be a mobile optimized version of the website so that you don't have to suffer through an interface that was designed for a desktop/laptop on a phone.

As for the OP, can't you just change the app settings to use a passcode/PIN?
