on my new mini with Boot Camp. Here is a link to a photo of my new beast here is a link to my down and dirty custom cooling setup. Fan is unplugged for the photo:

I have tried everything I could find on this Forum and Google and the dreaded error "This machine may not be able to boot" Or "Cannot see a partition" stops me cold.

I am using a new USB 16GB with bootable Win8 on it, boot camp, I have downloaded latest version Windows Support files to a freshly formatted FAT external USB drive (never gets this far really).

I had a Mac laptop for a month or so and got Win7 on it without too much issues. Maybe that is my only hope. Put 7 on and then upgrade? I really wanted a fresh clean install this time around, no clones, no upgrades :(

Microsoft screwed the pooch big time with Win8. It has the least robust install program of ANY OS out there by far. It really is scary how badly MS messed up. I am a huge Windows fan. But am thinking that 8.1 is going to be too little too late. Sorry for rant.

How do you know this is a Win8 issue and not a Mini/Bootcamp issue?

Well, I guess I do not know for sure :) I do have the latest Bootcamp and windows support files (but have not gotten to the point where I need them.) I THOUGHT I could load some sort of driver from those files but that is not happening.

My Google searches have brought forth the fact that Win8 seems to have all sorts of issues installing, like cannot have another hard drive exist on the computer while installing. That is just sad.

I am going to install OSX Internet recovery ONE more time (had deleted the OSX partition in desperation last time I tried with Win8 :) ) Then I am going to let it sit as I explore options. Good thing I did not tear down my work computer in anticipation of a successful Boot Camp :)

What about using Parallels instead of Bootcamp?

I could do that, but Boot Camp is what I want, so however long it takes, I will make it happen.

I do not like the way Parallels renders my desktop, among other things. I probably have not spent the requisite numbers of hours tweaking/learning/researching it, but I bought this with the specific intention of Boot Camp.

I guess trying Windows 7 will be my next move.
