happens to me quite often. It’s fantastic ! They come up to me very cautiously “ in excuse me but Is that the new iPhone X ? “ once I say yes they immediately geek out LOL. Such an awesome response. I show them the camera and it ALWAYS blows them away, I have a bunch of selfies with strangers and we have so much fun. A lot of them being gorgeous women is a bonus lol made some friends recently with a few of them and it’s thanks to this phone.

Other day I was at the dealership getting some work done to my car. A girl was there with her boyfriend. Same deal, she asked about my phone and I did the routine. Her boyfriend immediately took out his note 8 “ yeah my camera is Preety clear too “

I go:

“ yeah bro my camera doesn’t lag LOL ( I actually laughed ) “ as his had some delay while he moved it around and my X was nice and smooth. It’s clear samsung owners don’t notice that annoying delay/lag on their cameras. Oh well.

But anyways, how many times do you get approached while having your X out in public ?

What’s cool too is that 9/10 times it ends in “ I have to get it ! I thought it was the same thing ! “

This phone is awesome. Apple knows what they are doing.

Fortunately, a handsome apple leather case makes it look like any other iPhone. “Nothing to see here, pickpockets and chatty passengers.”

I bet that feeds your ego something wicked.

...and thus the 'I've got the new one' cycle continues.

This must be an American thing surely?

British people are rude and generally don’t give a toss what phone you use. I’d find it pretty awkward if somebody I didn’t know started talking to me about my phone.

What are you talking about? This is the only reason people buy new Apple products.

No. Why would I? Do you just walk around flaunting your phone or something? Or purposely show it off without being prompted? That’s... kinda weird.

I handed my iPhone X to a Best Buy employee to scan a reward coupon, and she asked which iPhone it was, then told me I was crazy for not using a case, and that was the extent of it.

It’s not that big of a deal. This thread is actually kind of embarrassing.

Not sure I would if I had it. No one cares what phone you have here in NYC.

I don't have an X, but no, that has never happened to me with any new phone. Seems pretty rude, to be honest. It's happened with friends or coworkers but that's different, not random strangers.

I saw a guy at the gym with one yesterday. Personally I wear headphones in the gym so people don’t talk to me but I have my days where I’m feeling social and leave them in the car. I was tempted to ask him about it but he had his headphones on so I left him alone.

Your thoughts will change when the same happens again, asked about you new iphoneX, asked to take a selfie with the stranger and then the stranger runs off with your new phone.

A few have said oh wow is that the new iPhone ex lol... then they said oh it’s small. I don’t use a case so it probably doesn’t look that big.

it's more kids than anything. I try to keep new phones out of view for a while for that simple fact. I'm not the type that seeks attention like that. The camera gives it away though and the fact you have to hold it a certain distance from your face to open it.

On 2nd thought, I was approached by a kid a while back. He asked me if that was the new iPhone 7. I said no as I had the 6S at the time.
He goes on to mention that the iPhone 7 hisses.. It was a really awkward conversation.

i actually like the old apps because they black out the top and bottom making it look like an old iPhone. I also intentionally hold it covering the vertical camera hole.

I know its a grouchy statement but my tech is for me and I just dont have any desire to advertise for Apple or brag about how much money I spent on a phone that works exactly like the ones they are already using.

My phone is always in my pocket, so I rarely have it out in public. I don't travel by transit and have my office room. So chances of others seeing my phone is very low.

I'm sure Samsung guy couldn't care less about your iPhone while he was with his girl that night. Meanwhile, you were sitting there thinking how cool it was that you got 5 minutes of her attention. This thread is embarrassing.

Only once with an iPhone which was the 4. Some of us don't need a gadget to boost our ego. My phone is usually in my holster case.

About 70% I see in SoCal are iPhone users. Most live in $2M+ homes where I work and drive Mercedes. Would they even care? You will always find someone much poorer AND richer than you.

My parents make six figures. My mother collects $1000-$1500+ Louis Vuitton and Hermès handbags and sells them off years later even or profit. More lucrative than a mass-produced phone that depreciates in a few months.

She thinks it is stupid to buy a $1000+ phone. That's not her priority. Same with my Stepdad. Real estate and travel are. They would rather travel like 4-5x per year and go on cruises than spend a G on a phone.

Both either drive Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, or Lexus for nearly 30 years. They aren't rich either but they know what high end is. If you want to be cool, be yourself. Don't need a gadget to boost. That's pathetic. Most don't really care.

Phones are cool but not as cool as a big house, nice car, and big package down there. Some of us can attract women without a phone if you know what I mean. ;) Just be yourself or walk a cute dog. My dog, Charlie, is a better chick magnet than an iPhone will ever be.

Last weekend I was in the check out line at the store and the woman at the cashier asked to hold it. She seemed really excited and impressed to hold. She kept saying 'wow'. It was entertaining to see her reaction to it.

Other than that I haven't had any stranger encounters. But I've gotten stares at my iphone x.
