Let's PLEASE keep this to pretty much the title only. We have a hundred threads arguing about if its right or not, we dont need another.

Mods if you decided to merge this with another thread then you might as well just delete it.

Post if you have gotten the message yet and any info you might think is necessary to see if we can find a common ground as to who's getting one and who's not. Its not just high data users.

-Only use MyWi
-I have an unlimited data plan
-Usually average 2GB a month but Im already at almost 3GB this month
-When I tether I only lightly browse the web and sometimes play online poker or listen to a radio station through their website.
-I do not download any torrent files using MyWi music/movies etc.



If I forgot anything you think is important let me know and Ill update my OP.

- I didnt have internet at my new apartment so I used this quite heavily but luckily just got internet.

If you only use that much per month then why have the unlimited data plan? You could save so much money if you dropped to a lower data plan. Up to you though as I know it's probably tough thinking about giving up unlimited data.

I tethered netflix a few nights at work, that ran up a few gigs, still nothing.. Hopefully I'm good.

-80% of my data usage is from Netflix and Slingbox through my iPhone (output the video to my car TV screens) and the other 20% is use MyWi to tether to my iPad2 or my Hackintosh Dell Mini 10V, for Netflix or Slingbox.

I hear you, I could go down to the 2GB but to save $5 is not that big of a deal.
I'd prob stick to unlimited while I can cause its going to be extinct soon:)

He wouldnt be saving so much money at all. The 2GB plan is $25 and the unlimited is $30. The 200MB is $15 but he uses 4X that so thats no good. He'd only be saving $5 a month which is not worth giving up unlimited forever in case he might use it.

I used to use the same amount as him and dropped the to 2GB plan then all of a sudden they got rid of the unlimited. I didnt like the idea of not ever having it again. I was able to get it back and now look Ive used 3GB this month. Its worth the extra $5 a month just in case you ever start using more than 2GB. :)

It will be, but for every year you keep it, you're losing $60. It doesn't seem like a lot, but it will add up over the years. (That is if they even let you keep the unlimited data plan upon your next contract renewal. Which at this point, doesn't seem like it.)

With that being said... saying "I have unlimited data" does feel good. Certainly worth that $5 a month. :p

yeah, like I was saying above if he ever has the need to start using above 2GB he can, where many others cant. If he drops to the 2GB and all of a sudden needs to start tethering more or starts watching a ton of netflix hes out of luck and has to constantly monitor his usage and stay below 2GB.

If they ever make you remove the unlimited for a contract renewal I will start buying my iPhones at full retail and not sign a contract. Having unlimited is important to me because I like the freedom.

YES!! Please dont merge this thread. I have been wanting to know who is getting the letter and why not a moral debate about mywi. A poll coud make the data easier to view?

When I do tether is for a little bit to check email on the ipad but I used it once to work remotly when the wifi went out. Amazing how well it worked!

Keeping unlimited just incase but fully expect the option to go away with 4g.

- Only use Personal Hotspot (TetherMe)
- Unlimited data plan
- Average 600-900MB/month (I do a lot of podcast streaming [TWiT] and app updating while out [My3G], occasional Pandora use)
- Have tethered only to test so far (if I do it'll only be for light web use)

The way Sprint dealt with that situation was to prevent people on grandfathered plans from activating newer devices, regardless of how the customer acquired the device.

Hopefully AT&T won't pull that.
 
No, but with baseball season about to start, my having MLB at Bat on my iPhone, iPad and Galaxy Tab and cancelling the "suddenly not unlimited" 3G on the iPad, I suppose I'll soon be testing the limit of what AT&T will tolerate. The other side of that is that I don't really care anymore. If AT&T wants to give me a hard time because I'm using Apple approved apps on equipment purchased by AT&T along with an "unlimited" data plan, I'll happily toss all this junk in the trash and save the $270 a month I pay for my family plan now.
 
Nothing so far. I sure hope they don't pull this crap considering I pay AT&T about $330.00 a month.

Same situation (unlimited plan, 4.1.0 and iPhone 4), except I use TetherMe instead. Although I always have tended to use 1.2-1.6 GB per month.

Although I tend to use more than 8 times a month. I move around a lot.

Not bad, I hope they dont bother people that stay below 2GB.
That shouldnt be too much IMO.
People like the other dude on that thread with 176GB and other crazy tethering amounts would make much more sense to go after.

-1.2 GB DL / 100 MB UL since 4.2.1 GP JB
-I use whenever school net is crappy, or I'm at a friend's house as their DSL is 0.5 Mb/s and my tethered internet is 1.5 Mb/s. Minimal tethering ... as you can see.
