Having AIM/MSN messenger run all day

Is there anyway to have it so that MSN messenger and AIM can run all day. Each time my macbook goes to sleep I am signed out. Is there anything I can do to be remained signed in so that I can receive messages while away?

System preferences and click on Energy Saver.

No the computer needs to be running in order for the programs to work

You can put to sleep the display only. But your mac will still be running. That's what i do.😉
