I clean installed my Mac Pro and yet I have that issue. Apple is assuming that third part GPU is causing this issue base on the conversation.

I never had that issue and other issues until I got RX570.

Any thoughts?

Nobody had RX580 to trade.

This may be your issue. Is this a used GPU that you traded for, or did you purchase/trade at a retail seller site?

If you actually traded/swapped with some one, could it be that they wanted to unload the thing because it wasn’t working well for them either?

I think you should purchase a new RX580 from a reputable vendor, test it out, if it works/solves your issue keep it. If it doesn’t work return it for a refund.

Mining firmware causes all sort of trouble with GPUs. If I was checking this, the first thing I'd do is a backup of the current firmware and flash the most recent one from the TechPowerUp VGA BIOS Collection.

I’m suspicious that this is the case as well. Since OP said he traded it, I’m guessing it’s a GPU malfunction from the previous owner. Mining firmware sounds very plausible.

I’ve never done any crypto mining but I imagine that the card wasn’t used for video output, and was optimized for compute function, and video output wasn’t even used.

Well, he was using it for gaming. Nothing more. Also, in the guest account, no issues at all.

At this point, Apple is not able to help me since Mac Pro is out dated.

Wow, so you have a problem with an unsupported piece of hardware and it’s Apple’s fault.

Yeah, I’d say it’s best you move along... This entire thread smells funny...

Thanks for the Reveal... List updated...

RX570 is supported lol. How come Im using it on MacOS Mojave?

It's not one of the supported cards. If it's not on the Apple list here, Apple third-party graphics cards list, it's not supported. With "might also be compatible", you are by yourself.

RX-570 works, the driver has the ID for the card, but this is not the same as a supported card. With supported ones, Apple have the cards for testing and actively check if things like all ports works correctly with every driver revision.

lol I totally disagree with you because that happens even with the native GPU. So now, this isn't GPU issue but MacOS issue.

This looks indicative of the loginwindow process being killed. Since you're not the one doing it, it's probably a crash somewhere. If you boot in Safe Mode, does this still happen? Do you see anything in Console about a gpurestart?

The other commentors are right; the 570 isn't officially supported, so the fact that it works at all is good.

You haven't mentioned what brand of 570 you have either, which would help. XFX for example aren't well known for compatability, whereas as far as I recall, Sapphire have a good rep. Again, the brand is no guarantee.

Also, when you say you have the same issue with the 'native gpu' what gpu are you referring to? Have you tried re-seating it? Tried a different slot? You've not even mentioned which Mac Pro you have..?

Did you ‘trade’ the mac pro also.....:D
If your having problems, don’t immediately blame the OS, when the majority of macpro users who install proper hardware have no issues.

Stop trolling. Even with native parts, I get that issue. Also, I clean installed Mac Pro and yet it still happens. Now, I assume it's not a hardware issue but software.

Hardware is not an issue here anymore since that also happens on AMD HD5870 which is included with Mac Pro 2010 from the beginning. Like I said, I never had this kind of issue till I got Mojave.

Yes it still happens in the safe mode.

I re-installed to MacOS High Sierra and then downloaded only Palette Master Element on genuine Mac Pro set up with genuine GPU and HDD that I have. Still, I'm getting a same issue. I have to conclude this issue because of either MacOS or Palette Master Element but PME might be the main issue. Their latest version doesn't even allow me to open. But I really don't understand why does it log me out like that no matter how I move and click?

Since Mojave requires a Metal-capable GPU, and the 5870 isn’t Metal-capable, I’m surprised it works at all.

Since you’ve had the same issue across multiple OSes, it’s reasonable to conclude it’s still a hardware issue somewhere. Try Sierra to confirm.

You should really post what brand of 570 you have, and try running the card in PCIe Slot-2 if you haven’t already?

PME opens for everyone else, so it must be something to do with your set up.

Well, 100% not true. I contacted BenQ USA DIRECTLY and they told me that they are already aware of this issue and Im not the only one. That's why they also told me not to use version 1.3.1. Im telling you facts. directly from BenQ company.

HD5870 still works in MacOS Mojave after I download it with RX570 tho Metal or GPU performance is dramatically slow.

I totally doubt it's a hardware issue because once I download PME, it happens. So I tried re-installing MacOS WITHOUT downloading PME and guess what? NO ISSUES.

Im using MSI Armour OC and I already tried other PCIE slots.

When you said you had this issue after doing a clean install, that rather lead me to the conclusion you hadn’t installed anything.. so based on that, plus your previous posts, guess it’s your software killing the loginwindow service..

Like they say, best to stay away from that version then.

Regarding the 5870 working but being slow, that tells me basic display drivers are there and able to utilise it, but because the UI is rendered in Metal, the card is unaccelerated.
