Having Applestore app open and ready at 3am

Can't use the Apple Store app, since T-Mobile isn't available through it.

T-Mobile will be available. It doesn't show for the 5S because there is the unlocked option available.

I don't think people really know the chances as there's too many variables year-to-year. I think Apple though is pretty experienced by now in how many phones they need to have available. Plus, regular Joe Schmoe isn't really going to pre-order at all. That said, best chance is to get up at 3am.

I guess it depends on the model too. The cheaper models tend to fly off the shelf faster than the higher priced ones.

It's been hit or miss. The iPhone 5s was very short supply because of the TouchID sensor. Especially the gold model, it was in very short supply. By 12:15 ship time increased from 2 - 3 days to 5 - 7. By morning I believe it was 2 - 3 weeks.

So far this year it seems like Apple has better supply. They have a very aggressive forecast of how many they want to sell. Not to mention, Foxconn really beefed up their production.

This year because of the 16gb -> 64gb jump, I think the 64gb is going to sell the best. 16gb is just way too small. I think Apple purposely didn't make it 32gb so people would jump up to the next tier and spend the extra $100.

In the app, you can check your upgrade eligibility there, so you can answer this for yourself. (As a side note, I'm on AT&T, so I can't check for you.)

I never had a problem (ordered over 3 times) just waking up the next morning, albeit early (~7am) and ordering then.

If you did that for the 5s then you waited MUCH longer than those he got their orders in right away. Shipping delays were popping up just minutes after 3am last year.

Because the Apple Store app only shows ATT, Verizon and Sprint on it. Check it out and you will see what I mean. I will have to use the Apple.com site to order. I prefer the app, since it worked better when pre-ordering the iPhone 5 for me.
