Having DW 8 Problem With Defining Site

I'm trying to define a site and i fill in all the correct info but when i test the FTP connection from dreamweaver it always says there is a problem connecting to the server. I have called my ISP and the test FTP and I have test it with fetch and it works fine. Anyone can help?

"filling in the correct info" is very ambiguous, and what exactly is the error message returned?

try enabling "use passive ftp"
that usually does the job
and make sure all your details are correct like angelneo said

all info was correct the problem was that i was selecting the secure ftp transfer box
