Hey so using a youtube video i installed a ssd i purchased into my 2010 mac mini. Install went mostly well besides cracking one of the holder slots for my ram. But ill come back to that. Before the install i formatted the hard drive as an osx journaled drive so thag i could install osx on it. Now trying to load osx from my restore disks leaves me with a blank white screen and using a usb thumb drive with osx on it gives me a dimmed screen that reads. You need to restart your computer hold the power button. Any solutions? Ive tried holding c when the computer starts and it doesnt bring me to disk utility which i thought was on the osx install dvd.

As for my ram slot. Like an idiot i didnt release the ram from the metal prongs. I instead pulled the prongs out a bit with the ram. Im thinking the only solution is to superglue them down or stick something against it before i close the enclosure. I appreciate any input and ideas.

Sounds like you broke something. Take out the RAM in the broken slot.

What OS version is on your thumbdrive?

Ok was using wrong restore disk found the one for the mac mini now need to fix the ram slot
