Shutting off HDR at main level is not a fix. The whole point why people bought this Apple TV version is because it has HDR/Dolby Vision, now you’re asking them to turn it off, which affects other platforms too?!
You are right, as a permanent solution this is un acceptable, but as a temp fix until an update ( which is apparently being worked on as we speak) , while not optimal, this is unfortunately amongst thise thinhs thst sometimes hapoens, and loosing HDR but still being abke to whatch the show you whant is cetainly better yhen the content nkt playing at all or failing to resume after being paused

You should turn autocorrect back on.

I've not for 30 years seen a publicly released program with more bugs than the HBO app . . . and I'm not even watching on Apple TV which they admit is deficient (but on a Samsung TV). The worst and most frustrating software I use on an everyday basis by quite a large margin.

I’ve got a better workaround: Uninstall the app and cancel your subscription until HBO releases an app that a actually works.
That'll terrify HBO into submission. After all, HBO has acknowledged the problem and is working to fix it. The thought of losing you as a customer will most definitely frighten make them to work faster on the fix.

Then how could you continue to watch it if it's so crippled??? It is statements like this that cause MR forums to have less and less credibility on a daily basis.

I watch HBO MAX almost daily with no problems.

I was wondering what was going on. I recently dropped HBO though, they were good when they were doing same day theatrical releases during COVID but with all their reported issues behind the scenes with their parent company WB, uninteresting (to me) new tv shows, and weak new releases scheduled I couldn't justify it. Additionally, I have a feeling once WB releases the new HBO+Discovery combined plans the price will undoubtedly increases because that's apparently the formula these days for subscription models.

No doubt, pirating will be coming back with the way things are going.
Did it ever go away? 😉
