Now that the free trial is ending for those of us that signed up day one, does anyone know if the subscription costs in the future will get deducted from the credit we have on our accounts? I never leave my CC on my account, but rather keep restocking iTunes credit instead since it can regularly be bought for 10-20 percent off.

As far as I know, iTunes doesn't care what "type" of money you have, so long as you have some. My trial's just expired and I plan to use a gift card, and I don't foresee any issues.

It will be deducted from your credit. No CC needed.

Non us user here..

having an issue (never done this before) i credited my US iTunes account with $15. i had the renewal option set on, and its not taking the credit. no CC or other method is associated with the account. my trial should have expired yesterday, it even says Expired on may 9th in iTunes.. but my HBO Now account is still live on the Apple TV.

when i try and click "subscribe for $14.99" in the manage subscriptions options, it takes me to my details and seemingly wants me to add a method of payment, or.. redeem a iTunes Gift card! I'm confused..

anyone able to help?

It will take iTunes 24-48 hrs to charge you so I say just wait.

My service was not cut until the day after the expiry date. I then went in and renewed no problem.

Did you renew via CC or via credit already on your account? I'd try it right now but I don't need HBO until next month when True Detective starts again. I'd rather not have to put my CC info back on my account, but I have a lot of Apple credit already on it thanks to a 15 percent off sale last week at Lowes (got 200 dollars of credit for 170).

While I do have a CC tied to the account, it automatically took from my available itunes credit.

Good to know. I asked because the guide someone wrote at The Verge said they thought you'd need a CC on account to create a subscription. I'm assuming that's false, and if you have no way to pay on file, it will simply cancel your subscription.

I definitely did not have a CC on account when I created my HBO Now account - and that is what creates the subscription.

I think it might be due to it costing more then $14.99 due to tax. Don't know what you used for a US address, but mine was $16.04 with tax. Always a good idea to have a couple of dollars over the itunes amount to cover any taxes.

Wow! I didn't know that. I use CA address and got no tax charge. Lucky me I guess.

Yes it is. And the ATV app is even worse.

Pretty much every app I use on ATV is horrible. Especially Netflix. I'm guessing that the updated ATV coming soon will also have the updated apps that are on other devices.

Agreed, the Netflix ATV app is not as good as the ios versions. But at least it will still mark episodes as watched and makes it easy enough to view the next episode in a series you are watching. HBO Now is terrible for this on both ATV and iOS. Though at least on iOS it will mark an episode as watched.

I'm using an Ohio address based in Newark.

probably is tax, but my HBO account is still live, i watched GoT this morning. iTunes account is still credited.. I'm going to be annoyed to have to spend another $15 just to cover tax.
