I would like to try this.

Can you explain how I do this please?

1. I'm using an UNBLOCK-US account so I followed the instructions on their website on setting up the vpn connection on my mac (there is a link above).
2. Then I disabled the wifi on the Apple TV
3. Connected the Apple TV to my MAC with an ethernet cable.
4. Then on the Mac went to System Preferences/Sharing
5. Turn on 'Enable Internet Sharing'
6. On the right hand side select the appropriate boxes. I was sharing connection from wifi to ethernet.

I was able to pull all data to the Apple TV through the Mac's VPN but got the same error. hboactivate.com/success but activation error on Apple TV.

Thanks for all that info.
I also did all that using my VPN provider, but the ATV4 was bypassing the VPN as the shared connection auto assigned its own IPs. Did you run Speedtest on the ATV to 100% confirm it was using the VPN. When I ran speedtest on mine it showed up as my normal IP address.

I understand UnoTelly are aware of the issue and their techs are now working on the fix.

The shared connection auto assigning shouldn't matter. But I didn't check. I set the Apple TV to Auto DNS then rebooted when bridging the connection to the mac's VPN.

I might try a few variations to see if it works.

That VPN workaround on Reddit was mine and the issue with that is that it successfully activates on both the browser and the Apple TV and it stars to work until you unplug the ethernet cable and then you get a specific geoblock notice.

Got a free trial of UnblockUS yesterday to see if it worked. Might have to use it until UnoTelly get it worked out.

Was thinking of doing the same. Do they still want your CC details though before they give you trial access??

I just read on an Australian Forum it does not work with UnBlockUS.

What is the server address you are using?

208.122.23.23

It could be outdated information. I tried it on Unblock last night and it didn't work but it's finally working today.

Anyone with a VPN router having problems? So can you sign up to HBO Go with a European debit card? I know you can with HBO Nordic, bit I've not tried HBO Go.

You mean HBO Now? I think the only way would be to buy US gift cards and use them towards in-app subscription. I haven't tried this so I can't confirm if it'll work or not.

Yes sorry, Now not Go. I'll give it a try sometime, they can only refuse.

Does anyone know if there is vpn functionality built in to atv4 to allow developers to build vpn apps for it directly?

hi all. i have searched far and wide on the interwebs but haven't found a solution currently working for this. perhaps someone here has an idea.

i too want to use hbogo on my 4th gen appleTV. appleTV gives me an activation code and then tells me to go to hbogo.com/activate. trouble is that when i go there and log in, comcast doesn't take me to an activation screen, it just says hbo is included in my account and suggests i start watching. i can watch online but at no point do i find a screen to activate my appleTV. i searched everywhere on comcast and hbogo's sites.

after spending an hour futzing, here are all the things i have tried that havent worked:
-logging out of comcast and trying the process on private browsing
-doing the same incognito on chrome
-using my phone off on cell network rather than wifi
-changing the end of the url for log in on comcast's site as suggested in posts online from "auth=0" to "auth=1" (even tried auth=2" for kicks)
-logging in on maxgo.com instead of hbogo.com

thanks!!

This has been resolved for awhile now. What you're referring to is something completely different.

Anyone having any issues activating HBO GO (not HBO NOW) on the new Apple TV? Activation on the laptop succeeds with the code but the app on the Apple TV says activation error.

I was having the same problem over and over and over finally I did a little investigating and my router had IPV6 sharing enabled. It should have been. I unchecked it restarted my router and HBOGO activated perfectly. I hope this helps.
