Are you kidding me? The big fight was over exclusiveness as an app? I woke up the other morning and Max was just there. That's it? Companies need to think more of their customers and stop the bull with what seemed to be a simple compromise. Wasn't HBO always exclusive? Why give in now that all these movies are available to customers all year next year? Roku, wake up! You are a device that has no stream of its own.

I have always predicted the demise of theaters. It is inevitable. Why should I listen to your crying baby or deal with the seat bumps or smell your popcorn (which I hate)? My prediction was on demand when released. It's here. Roku, you had to reconsider when you saw what was on their plate. This is the future. Now, we just have to get Apple online with adult content. You, gentlemen and ladies, are not Disney. Even Avengers kill and show blood. Red or blue.

Roku won't catapult HBO Max to the ranks of streaming elite. The $14.99 price point for HBO Max is a stickler as the priciest of the premium video services.

Relax, there ain't no free lunch. $14.99 is what I've been paying for HBO Now -> HBO Max.

Well, it's free with my AT&T service. The cost is worth what they provide if I did pay. Everyone's price will go up eventually. My thing is Roku should realize the sale of their devices from this deal. They will sell due to their being the cheapest of most. They just shouldn't have taken so long to make it happen. Watch their Christmas sales blow up....

I've been an ATT customer since the 3G iPhone came out (2009?). We only have two phones on our plan and its a lot better deal than below.

With ANY provider, they usually hide the real cost of their service. With 6gb of data, I pay around $100.

I don't know what plan you have, but this one seems to be the only one with free HBO Max. Five lines at $45 is $225 a month + all the other "tweaks". At what I'm pay, roughly $100 a month plus HBO Max around $16 is the only way to go for my 2 phone service. IF I had 5 phones, I can see where this might be the way to get "free" HBO Max.

Trying to check out the best deal with ATT (and I assume other providers as well) is kinda like buying a new car in the "closer's" office and getting pitched with leases, extra warranty options, undercoating, etc etc.

I see a quote for $85 for one line with 100 gb of steaming data AND HBO. I'm guessing taxes add to that $85 quote.
I'm paying $70 total for just 6GB of data and about $15 to another source for HBO Max. So, if I were to switch to your deal, my cost would be close to a wash and since AFAIK, I've never exceeded my 6GB of data, no benefit.

However, it looks like you have a good deal!

That I do. I thought it was still offered? It came with the iPhone 12 Pro trade-in deal.

I think that Apple putting the ATV+ app on the Roku will sell more Roku than HBO Max will :).

Before, people needed an ATV to watch their iTune purchases on a TV.

Now, they can use a Roku or many other devices other than an ATV to watch their iTunes purchases on a TV.
