The 3870 will NOT be a build-to-order option at the Apple Store, will it?

I'm fairly certain everyone thinks it will not be, but I just wanted to make sure before I made my Mac Pro purchase in the near future. Any possibility it would show up as an option?

No. Aftermarket by AMD/ATI.

So what does this mean as far as drivers and integration into the os? do you guys think that it will degrade that fuzzy feeling i get when i know that everything is supported by apple? id hate to have to be like PC users when i have to go to the manufactures website to get new driver updates / fireware updates.

Mac OS X already have driver support for the Radeon HD 3800 series built-in.

When will NVidia do stuff like this? I don't think NVidia likes Apple as much as ATI.

Nvidia doesn't make cards, they only make the graphics chips. It would be up to a vendor that makes the cards with Nvidia chips to make cards and drivers for the Mac.
