Hello all,

Working on a live video project for college sports and I'm looking for an HD camera with a firewire input (so there's no need to purchase a dazzle card or something like that) as well as a microphone input. The goal is to have a simple set-up that students can handle. Ideally, we'd like the camera to be under $600. Any suggestions on external microphones would be great as well!

Thanks!

Get a used Sony HDR-HC1. It has Firewire and microphone inputs. It also has a lot of manual controls which make it a great pro-sumer camera.

Sony HC1? Isn't that thing from 2004 or so? I have the A1 (HC1 with XLR). It sucks meanwhile.

Check Canon HV40. Is to be had for about 650 bucks.
