HD crashed how to get back emails that were placed in folders on Mail ??

HI 😕

My hard drive completely died and had to be replaced - I have been able to download the current inbox of messages from jan 2012 - but none of the messages placed in side folders have returned and nothing older than jan 2012 had re-downloaded - how can I retrieve this mail URGENTLY
- yes I KNOW I should have backed up my Mac - already morning the loss of photos and music library but the answer is NO i don't have a back up

You'll have to try something like Data Rescue III or pay a lot of money for professional recovery. Odds are you aren't going to get them back.

Yep. If your drive truly "died," as in you can't get it to independently spin up and read data on your own, you're going to have to use pro tools to get data off the platter. It's going to cost some, but it may be worth it.

Unfortunately the URGENCY of a requirement doesn't affect the chances of getting your data back. What might is spending money with a specialist data retrieval company.

Previous posters here have quote $500-$1000 to retrieve info from a mechanically failed drive. That may be your only option, and whether you are willing to spend that is perhaps a test of how truly urgent it is.

This is one hell of a long shot, but you MIGHT get your ISP to play ball....I doubt it though, and as posted, only the pros can really help with this, and you are looking at mega bucks I'm afraid.

Do you mean ISP's are keeping copies of all mails being sent and received?
