Hello friends at MacRumors,
I have an iMac running OS X 10.6.8. I primarily use it for audio recording (Avid Pro Tools). My problem is that the internal HD is getting full, so I'd like to know what my options are for adding another drive. I'm not sure how many internal drives are supported. All ports are in use except for one USB. I was thinking about copying the OS and apps from the internal drive to an external USB drive, then formatting the internal drive and using it for Pro Tools sessions only. Is this a viable option? Should I avoid putting the OS on an external USB drive? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
