HD locked after trying a fresh install

My Macbook froze while downloading an update, so had to force start. After that the system just stopped working. Was trying a fresh install, but it now shows my hard disk as locked.

I had OSX Lion running on my mid 2001 macbook! the white unibody one... Would appreciate any help on this...
