hd mkv playback

any suggestions. i have been using vlc but it keeps dropping frames. wish there was a way to put the decoding on the cpu. any suggestions?

Try Perian for Quicktime.

I've found that HD Matroska files can be a pain to play. Perian usually manages to handle the few that VLC cannot. Do you know the bitrate and codec used?

codec x264 most of them. bitrate is 3-8 mb/s. there 720p movies, so ya.

You can use Mplayer.
