Alright so HD movies for purchase have been available for a while now. The selection was terrible at first and it hasn't gotten any better since. Is there a reason for this? I mean.... why not sell everything HD?! Do you think they're holding them back for any particular reason? New ATV, 1080p on the horizon, etc....?

I blame the studios. They want to sell Blurays.

Which makes no sense because it looks like they would make more on digital goods. I just pre-ordered the Snow White Blu-ray for $14.99 from Amazon (check the comments section for the promo code to save $10). I know Disney would jack that up to $24.99 on iTunes without all the additional stuff included with the Blu-ray (a DVD copy, a Digital Copy, etc).

I blame studio greed. Yes you got a good deal on Snow White, thanks for the tip BTW, but normal folks will line up a BB, Target, Walmart and shell out $20-25 bucks.

Those retailers already suffer at the hands of the iTunes music store. One thing ITMS cannot offer is the sale of other items tied to movies, Toys, Games, clothes, ect. Profits from those items go back to the studio in one way or other.

Im also pretty confident the studio guys don't want to give Apple any more power over how content is sold.

Its funny that the the very few movies I actually want to see in HD are not offered that way in the ITMS. You know what studio guys, I STILL WON"T BUY THE BLURAY.

Physical media is dead to me. I don't want cases and discs laying around my house. I don't want to get up off the couch, yeah I'm lazy, to find a movie and put it into my BR player.

I want all my content in one place, my Apple TV. If I must purchase a disc, Disney movies for the little one, I use it once to make a copy and never touch it again.

    Just my 2 cents

There are tons of movies available in HD for ATV. I just can't figure out why those same movies aren't available via iTunes.

I will never buy a Blue Ray player and I want everything on my computer.

they are probably trying to push Blu-Ray. Blu-Ray quality in my opinion is far better than standard TV, and this is watching it on a standard samsung LCD compared to Bang and Olufsen TV...

It could also because Apple know that a lot of peoples internet connection is rubbish and takes ages to start playing HD movies, considering that on cable tv you can rent one for the same price, they are sometimes newer and start playing instantly (nearly)
