Hd video on a 1280 x 800 screen?

If I view a movie trailer on apples website in 720p on a 1280x 800 screen am I actually seeing the video in HD? The website says the video is 1280 x 720, so is this actual HD quality on any screen that has that pixel range?

Or am I miss-understanding something?
 
You are understanding correctly, your screen has the proper width and 80 more pixels than necessary for height.
