Hey guys, quick HD3000 graphics question. I feel like i read that the mac os has drivers that really push the HD3000 to the limits but at the same time i know for a fact that the mac version of games are of lesser quality than their windows counterpart. so at the end, will they cancel each other out?

will the HD3000 work better in windows or mac osx? thinking about installing bootcamp so i could play sims 3. thats if bootcamp/windows will give me a better experience than installing on a mac.

please no "you shouldn't be gaming on a 13" or the HD3000 sucks period." I have the new imac but wanted to install 3-4 games on a 13" laptop so i could play when im bored :D

thank u in advance my macrumor buddies!

I would say to try both out, you can only really tell that way. The Sims 3 isn't exactly a demanding game, it should be play fine on both platforms.

Actually, the HD3000 works better in OS X from what I have heard. The windows drivers are just bad. Either way, you'll be able to play the sims 3 fine. I can on my 9400m in OS X, and it plays pretty well.

what a coincidence! the last comp i installed sims 3 was my 09 macbook pro with the 9400m. It ran fine but i wasn't happy with the sacrifice for the details. plus it got a bit sluggish when i would buy one of the big house with alot of stuff inside. i should i mention that i played it under bootcamp.

i found this site
http://www.techyalert.com/2011/02/25/macbook-pro-2010-vs-macbook-pro-2011/

but im still trying to figure out if its worth it to invest in hours to install and update windows 64bit.

if the difference in performance is BIG than i have no problem investing the time but if its negligible than ehh.

only games im planning to install are maybe sims 3, sims medieval, and civilization 5 if i ever develop patience on how to play hah.

edit:
but yeah, all the websites i read said that the HD3000 against the 320m, under mac os, is almost the same.

I also think that's a drivers problem... Is there any change that Apple will improve them?

Apple's driver is already better than the windows counterpart, if anything, Intel should write better drivers for windows.

So there's any chance that MBP 13" 2011 will handle Bad Company 2 on lowest settings? :p
