I just got an external monitor for my macbook pro, whenever I try to play movies on it says that they are HDCP protected and my monitor does not support it. It's an Acer P186H, is there any way to authorize it, or get around it?

Thanks

The quick and easy answer is to remove the DRM from the files so they will playback in full HD on any HD capable display. If you can't or need to retain the DRM for whatever reason then you will need to use an HDCP capable digital connection. That means HDCP compatible DVI or HDMI - no VGA, composite or component.
