I moved my ATV 3 upstairs. MLB.TV and ESPN work fine. When I tried to watch Netflix (and HBO GO) I got the error message that "This content requires HDCP for playback". It goes on for me to replace the HDMI cable or that it is poorly connected.

If the cable was poorly connected than I wouldn't get anything to play? I moved everything to another TV with the same cable and it worked.

I Googled and tried some of those suggestions that didn't solve the problem.

The TV is a Samsung from late 2006 but does have 2 HDMI in puts (both of which I get the same error).

Any ideas or suggestions?

My plan is the get the ATV 4 and keep the ATV 3 upstairs.

Thanks

Check to see if the Tv might have a firmware update. I'd try a different cable if you have one as it could be the Tv having a problem with that cable.

No where to update the software and I have tried 3 different cables, including monster cables. Oddly I am having the same issue from Directv box so I am having a compatibility issue somewhere in the chain. The TV is HDCP compatible.

I deal with a lot of HDTVs of different vintages. Sad to say it but your HDMI board is going out on your TV. Not sure why but the first thing to go is always the HDMI board. It is a very common thing to happen, as a matter of fact if you see a HDTV on the side of the road the majority of time this is the issue. Unfortunately the only real fix is to go for a component connection, which is not a option on ATV.

Good excuse to get a new TV
