Hi all

I am a proud owner of a Rmbp (2.3ghz with 16gb memory upgrade)

My question is I am going to purchase some external storage. I can either get a USB 3.0 1TB external HDD or invest in a 128gb 3.0 SSD. Which one sounds reasonable? - not really bothered about the the price difference between them :)

Additionally, has anyone tried a SSD in a enclosure ? Or can recommend a popular enclosure for the SSD's ?

Thank you for your replies.

That's a huge difference in storage - a terabyte vs. 128 gigabytes.

What is your planned usage and how much storage do you need?

My criteria for buying external storage is to buy large drives to back up my data

Assuming the 128GB is enough space for you and you don't mind the cost, the SSD is going to be much faster.

Any 2.5" USB 3.0 enclosure will work for you.

If you really want some speed (and don't mind the cost) you might look at a Thunderbolt external SSD like this from ElGato.
