Any legit reason why the HDD would be doing this? Does OSX index or run system check ups at night? It's 1am local.
Disk permissions: Read a bit from both camps claiming it's wonders and it's placebo effect(affect, never can remember?). Looking for a bit of clarification on if it's a valid fix or maintenance procedure?
And: I ran the onyx disk permission utility. There were a TON of files that came up as broken permissions. Have had the computer less than a week. Anyway, I fixed the permissions through onyx. Then I ran the disk utility and analyzed disk permissions. Again a ton came up. So I fixed those. THEN I ran the analyzer again immediately afterwards and there were, yet again, a ton.
