HDD repair problem...

so i periodically verify/repair my start-up disk. however, today when I ran the verification... this occurred ... it says the disk needs repair... but it wont let me repair it...

Have you tried booting from the install disk and repairing it from there?

try to start in single user mode (hold COMMAND- S at startup) and type fsck -y or fsck -fy to run the repair.
