I'm basically trying to think of a way to use my existing resources to do a back-up of my back-up, without having to spend anymore than I already am on a 4TB drive as primary back-up. I have 2 2TB external drives available, and just had a couple of questions for the more knowledgeable than I...

1) Is there a workable way to split a full time machine back-up across multiple drives, and if so, how does it work when you come to restoring for the multiple drives?

2) Is there any way of making two different external drive appear and work as one?

Thanks

Dan

What I do is use Time Machine to backup one of the drives (the one with my home directory on it) and my SSD to one of my 2TB drives. Another drive has all my media, so I use Carbon Copy Cloner (great free backup tool) to backup that drive to another one. So if you are looking to do a backup of a backup, you could use TM, and then CCC on the TM drive...
