Hi all, I have a 500GB HDD SATA soon to be replaced by a 256GB SDD.

I am planning on transferring the data from the HDD to SDD but wasn't sure if it would bring the bootcamp partition over.

I was wondering if it is possible to transfer the data from the bootcamp drive l along with my mac OS drive to the SDD without any problems?

I am getting the crucial M4 which comes with an adapter kit.

Thanks for the help everyone!

The only app I know of to migrate your bootcamp partition is winclone and I beleive that's basically abandonware AFAIK.

I'm not tech savy at all, what does abdanonware AFAIK mean? lol

abandonware refers to software that may be usable but which isn't being developed any more. If it works for you great, but you want to be careful depending on it going forward as something like an update to your system may break the functionality.

AFAIK = As far as I know.

I just updated my stock 128GB SSD to a 256GB SDD (Crucial M4) last week because I needed more space to install 2013 AutoCAD which I run on Bootcamp. I used Winclone to transfer over my Windows 7 partition and Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) to transfer over my Mac OSX partition and recovery partition. It seemed pretty simple and I have not had any problems.

did you move the windows 7 partition into the max osx partition by imaging it using winclone?

The crucial m4 came with a kit that allows me to clone my current hdd to the new ssd.

So, I was thinking if I clone the windows 7 partition (imaging it) into the mac osx partition, i can clone my entire mac osx drive with the adapter kit (provided by crucial) into the new ssd and restore windows with winclone from there?

sorry for the wall of text!

thank you for helping!

I imaged the Windows 7 partition with Winclone 3.4 (which was just recently released) while in OSX.

I didn't get Crucial "transfer kit" with mine, so I cannot say if the Crucial transfer kit will clone your "entire drive" (both partitions), but it seems like you should be able to transfer everything with it.

I shall email crucial and see if they have an answer to this. I have tried googling it but have found no answer related to this (or that that I understand).

The crucial site says it would transfer everything from my current HDD (so i assume both partitions?) to the new SDD.

I am not sure if that video helps explaining if it would transfer everything?

thanks a lot!
