Hi there,
just need some small help. Would like to upgrade HDD from SATA to SSD.

Does anyone know if Crucial XM500 250gb or 500gb is working on Macbook Pro 15¨ the Year 2009 (MC118LL/A - Mac 5,4) ?

Whole SSD specs....
Crucial MX500 500GB SSD Sata-600 CT500MX500SSD1

Thanks a lot.

Just about any 2.5" sata drive will work in the MBP. The read/write speed of the SSD is going to be limited by the speed of the MBP's sata controller.

Some SATA SSDs don't negotiate SATA-II speeds, so even if your Mac is SATA-II capable, you'll get SATA-I speed. I can only talk about the SSDs I've tested in my SATA-II Macs (a Macbook White Late-2009 and a Mac Mini 2010).

- Crucial M500, 480GB, achieves SATA-II speed in the Mac Mini;
- Samsung 840 EVO, 250GB, achieves SATA-II speed in the Macbook White.

I have a PNY SSD which only works at SATA-I or SATA-III.
