I recently picked up a great deal on a 2018 Mac Mini. Everything is working well, but I've found a strange issue with color on the HDMI port. The picture is mostly OK, but the colors are all a bit off-- it's extremely noticeable with reds being deeper than they should and greens being almost neon (the FaceTime icon showcases it well).

I don't see this issue with DisplayPort, nor do I see it with my 2013 MacBook Pro over HDMI on the same monitor. An Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport adapter with HDMI also doesn't have the same issue. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what's happening-- it only seems to occur with built in HDMI.

I've tried various color profiles and monitor settings as well as other HDMI cables, but it appears to be persistent. Any ideas?

If you search this forum for 'HDMI" you will find several threads/posts about issues with the 2018 Mini's HDMI port and various HDMI and/or HDMI-adapter cables. The issues range from problems with color (like you), to not working at all.

In my case, my secondary monitor, a DELL2407WFP, is not even recognized when connected to my 2018 i7 Mini's HDMI port, but works just fine when attached to one of the USBc ports. There have been several work arounds posted that help the color issue. But some of us simply don't use the HDMI port.

Thanks, for this, your link did it for me. After applying the EDID override, the HDMI signal is now working properly!
