HDMI input to a 2013 iMac 27?

I have a 2013 iMac 27 (new slim model) with two thunderbolt ports. Is it possible to use this screen as the output monitor? I have a home surveillance system that has output HDMI video. Instead of getting a TV so I can view the surveillance, is it possible to connect the DVR box to my iMAC?

Nope. the Thunderbolt ports only accept input from another Thunderbolt port. It's unfortunate though.

so i assume there is no way to hook up, say, a game console right?

you mean to hook up a game console and use the iMac as a screen?
not directly. There are messy boxes you can stick in between but they cost as much as a cheap monitor.
