yea it's a must have to completely redesign the device to support a standard which Apple doesn't care about. Did you not watch the keynote? There is zero space left inside the chassis for anything else. There are alternatives such as wifi streaming.

You can use Apple's component dongle to send to the HDTV. Most of the older/newer model HDTV's have YPbPr RGB inputs.

I guess the easiest way to get the HD video from the new iPhone to your TV would be to copy it from the phone to your pc, then stream it to your TV with a PS3 or AppleTV or whatever. I'm anxious to see how that looks.

Edited to add, I also don't see why someone couldn't create a dock with HDMI out.
