I just purchased the Belkin Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter from apple and when i plug it into my aluminum macbook i cannot change the sound output to my Samsung LCD tv. I tried it with my mom's new macbook and it was able to find the tv right away, and the sound came out of the tv's speakers. Is my macbook to old for this cable and that is why the sound will not connect, or is there something else i should do?

Thanks!

There are some that will plug into a USB port as well as the miniDP and give you HDMI with sound, but it would be cheaper to get a 3.5mm to red and white RCA cable
