My HDR works fine with the default app even closing the camera app after taking a picture and opening it back HDR is still on. This is on my iPhone 5S.

Try leaving the camera app closed for several hours. It only seems to turn HDR off when the camera app has been in the background long enough for iOS to close it down to free up ram for newly opened apps.

Yes, exactly. To me (personally--I know others will disagree), this bug is worse than the gyroscope data being interpreted by the OS incorrectly. I almost never play games that require motion sensing, but am an avid iPhone photographer and having to check if HDR is on is a pain. Hope they address this soon. 7.1?

HDR constantly being turned off

No, not using flash.
Camera app shows HDR on then I switch to other apps.
If i return to the camera within a few seconds it shows HDR on still.
If I return to the camera app after a little while it shows HDR off.
Sometimes switches to HDR off immediately after certain actions as well.

This was not occurring previously as I ALWAYS use the camera app with HDR on and never had to turn it on once I set it.
This started with iOS 7.0.3

Extremely annoying!

Exactly. Happening here too with 7.0.3. Bug report, and it'll get fixed. Not a biggie. I see this sort of thing happen a lot with apps that are left open in the background, but not usually with the stock apple apps.

This annoying issues is also happening with my iPhone 5s so I have logged it as a bug with Apple.

This is the most annoying iOS bug yet.

I take a lot of quick pictures with my iPhone, and I never turn HDR off, and now those "quick get a picture" opportunies become really frustrating when the moment has passed and I realize HDR is off.

In the Software QA world, this is called a regression. This is the worst bug you can ever have. You never ever want to provide an update that breaks something that previously works. This bug is bad. I went on a hike the other day and discovered half of my pictures had HDR turned off :( Very disappointed.

I sure hope this isn't a new "feature" and done on purpose.

Woot! Looks like 7.0.4 fixed it :)
Argh... Maybe I talked too soon, in the end :/

The bug is still there. I recently got an iPhone 5S that had the iOS 7.0.2 pre-installed so I've refrained from updating to 7.0.3 and 7.0.4 on that device. Thanks for that, Apple.

My iPad is running 7.0.4 though and has this annoying HDR bug.

I thought I was the only one!

I tried searching for this shortly after the 7.x release and couldn't find anything.

Has anyone filed a radar on apple's support site?

Does HDR actually even work? HDR in iOS 6 was leaps and bounds better than this version.

I agree, HDR seemed to have a better effect before iOS7.

I wonder if it's not a bug and Apple made the switch so that people aren't uploading double photos to their iCloud servers for every single pic they take. Whatever it is, it's annoying. Change it back.

I'm not the search police, I just don't have a link handy.

Somewhere there is a thread on this and third party solutions were also discussed. Interesting stuff. I mention this in case you want to take a quick look around for it. The general opinion in that thread is that it's not working as well as in iOS 6.

Do you use any other photo apps? I've only noticed this since taking pictures in imessage or snapchat. Def a bug, but it only happens when i use the camera in a different app then go back to the camera app.
