Hi,
Sorry if this is not the right forum, this is my first post, also, sorry for my English
I'm using the MBP 13" Early 2020, Intel 10th-gen.
I recently bought a new 1440p, 144hz HDR10 capable display, the ASUS TUF VG32V.
I tried using it using my old HDMI to USB C cable, and I got the full 1440p 144hz, but not HDR.
I did some research and I was pretty sure that the problem was my cable, so I bought a new HDMI to USB C but one that supports higher bandwidth (Amazon link).
Now the only difference I'm seeing that if I choose 'scaled' resolution, I can go up to 4K 60hz, which I wasn't able to with my previous cable but I'm not interested in it, I JUST WANT HDR.
Some important notes:
1. I'm using Mac OS 11.1.
2. The settings on the OSD for HDR are turned off but that's because the OS is disabling it.
For example with my Windows PC I can enable (and it actually turns on automatically) HDR on the OSD only after I enable it in Windows' display settings.
3. I tried using 'scaled' resolution to lower to 1080/720p to see if I get HDR then, but I'm not.
4. I tried changing many color profiles/calibrate the display but it didn't help either.
Why is HDR not showing up in preferences?? I read a lot online and in Apple support pages and it seems everything's fine: my cable supports really high bandwidth, my Mac is pretty new and Apple says it works since 2018 (mine's 2020) and my display is indeed HDR10 compatible and works with my Windows PC.
Please help
