HDSLR and Mac Video Software Choice

I'm planning on purchasing a HDSLR with separate audio recording.

What would be the best software for making indie movies at 1080p?
I have a Mac Pro - 2.0Gz four Cores (8 total), 9GB of RAM, and Terabits of Storage.

I don't want to break the bank on this one, so I was looking at Adobe's Production package, but I'm not sure its the right way to go.

Final Cut Studio 3. Your specs should be fine as long as you don't attempt to edit the native H264 files.
