I've got oodles of SD video to import into my G5 iMac and edit into movies using FCEHD 3.0. I'm tired of wearing out heads on my camcorder loading the footage into the computer and am seriously thinking about swallowing hard and purchasing a Sony HVRM15U editing deck, especially since I'll be eventually graduating to an HD camera. Then I read somewhere on this forum not to purchase this item since it had no HDMI input/output. Pardon my ignorance, but why is this so important, given the fact that once I create the movie on the computer, I'll be outputting to iDVD or DVDSP? Also, anybody want to comment on their experience with this piece of equipment or give me another reason not to purchase it? Thank you.

HDMI is only useful in limited applications so I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you need to take full sized DV cassettes why don't you just get an $800 HDV camera instead of a deck?
