Hello,

I'm looking for advice on the purchase of my next headset. At the moment, for my personal and professional use, I have the Plantronics 8200 UC provided by my company.

It is a good headset in principle (considering the reviews), but it does not seem to correspond to me.

- Not very comfortable for my morphology. It presses a lot on my ears and my head. Making long sessions with it complicated.

- The cancellation of the noises seems non-existent.

- The quality of phone calls is very average. As soon as I open the window, my interlocutors think I am on a traffic circle.

This is why I hesitate to turn to the Bose 700, the Bose QC45 or the Sony 1000XM4.

The idea is to have a headset that I can use for both personal and professional use, especially for telecommuting.

My 3 criteria are the following:

- Comfort. I have large ears slightly protruding. I don't want to have pressure on my skull or ears.

- Noise cancellation: To be quiet on the street and transportation. I can even put it on to concentrate in open space.

- Call quality. I use it daily for my GMEET.

I listen to a lot of music, but I'm not an audiophile, it's not necessarily my determining criterion. I use Windows for work and Apple for personal use.

What is the headset you would recommend to me? After several reviews on the internet, the Sony seems to be unanimous but I would rather have your opinion.

Thank you for your opinion.

I have had the Sony 1000XM4 for almost two years now. I have been pleased with them. They are comfortable. I can wear them for long periods. I wear them longer when I am working on editing videos. The noise cancellation is good quality and better than my old pair of Bose headphones I had before the Sony headphones. I have worn the Sony headphones on the plane, and the headphones did a good job of getting rid of the majority of the flight noise. They work for calls and online meetings, but they are not the best if you do lots of meetings. You may want to consider getting a pair of Jabras or something more like a headset for those types of online meetings to improve the audio call quality.

Thanks! Can I combine a good headphone for my personnal uses with my professionnal uses or not?

Interested on what you decided to get? I too have large ears and the XM4's (and 5's) my ears touch the ear cups. Going to try the Bose QC45's.

Normal ears, big head here. The XM4's are really comfortable for me. The call quality gets a beating in reviews, but never had a complaint about this.

I am not an audiophile myself, but when I started with the Sony's XM3's I heard some details in songs that I never heard. The XM4's improved the sound. and NC and I absolutely love them wearing outside (and inside)

As working in Traditional radio stations as sports guy in my retirement and we always used audio monitor headphone like the older Sony MDR7506 Sudios! Used these one until the Station was bought out from my friend and I left to enjoy retirement!
