I am looking to purchase a product that plugs into the headphone jack of my 4s. I use an Otterbox Commuter case which has already broken once on me! :( I don't want to have to take the case off every time I use the new device (which will be once a day).

In my research I've found all extenders are not created equal. The company I am buying the product from used to offer one for sale, but the specs changed and it no longer worked. They are also in the UK and I am in the US so some products aren't sold in both places.

Any ideas? It's a transmitter for measuring heart rate. Someone thought that one that would work for a CC reader would work for this. There are tons on Amazon and I obviously don't want to buy a bunch of them before finding one that works.

Thanks so much,
Diane

What are the requirements for the device you're connecting? Some extenders may only provide 2 conductors for earphones only. If you don't know then post a photo of the plug (that plugs into the headphone jack) on the device.

Thanks so much for your reply. Here is a not-so-good pic. I don't have any specs at all, none listed on the site or in the owners manual. I'll try going through the forum one last time.

Hopefully this image works!

Thanks again!

This is what I have found so far. I've asked them via email for the specs so hopefully I'll hear back.

EX864 iPhone Headphone Adapter, and the iFrogz Fitz Headphone Adapter do not work as of Jan 2011.

As of October 2011 one guy tried this and found it did work (one side only). Digital Lifestyle Outfitters Headphone Splitter for iPod and iPhone http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Lifes...itters+Headphone+Splitter+for+iPod+and+iPhone

He got it for $13 and it's now listed at $30 - ouch.

$30 for a jack plug? made out of gold ?

It may be! :p

just search in Amazon with Jack plug and so many of a competitive price around $2.0, look at these one:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=jack+plug

Thing is, not all of them seem to work with this receiver. So it's not just a case issue. I actually have an old headphone extender from my 1G Shuffle, but I doubt that will work either.

The did have one for under $2 that used to work, but something got changed in it and the new versions no longer do.

This is the only reason I posted here. I know there are ways to tell what may work but I have no idea what they are.

Thanks!
Diane
