headphone jack not working?!

so my 2010 15 inch MBP was working fine and the headphone jack was.

i went to go get gas and when i came back to listen to music the audio jack isn't working? it's not the headphones because they work with my ipod. it just magically started doing this.


how do i fix it??

edit- it works now...but why did it do that?

That jack is a digital and analog jack. Meaning it also has a optical line in the same jack. Look in the jack, do you see a red light? It thinks it's in digital mode. Sometimes you need to just insert and remove your headphone jack a couple times until it gets back into sync.

the audio jack in your mbp is a 2 in 1, analog and optical out, it just thought it was in optical u just had to get it straight and let it notice it should be in analog
