Looks like they've got someone to develop the app again. An update rolled out tonight.

    Mostly bug fixes.

Anyone using the new update on iOS4? Because i'm seeing some weird graphic pops, i guess, like where you tap to update your status, or comment, it's kind of flipped inside out, and notifications for your inbox, and friends requests don't look right... Anyone else or just me?

Does it fix that annoying bug, that if you have more than a couple of new notifications, it only says there's only two new ones? Even if you really had like 15 new ones?

I can't believe the lack of decent updates to the Facebook app on the iPhone - they'd make millions if they charged 99c for the app and actually put a bit more development effort into it - to release a version right now that has no mention of iOS4 compatible is beyond me....

now it seems like doesn't wanna clear your most recent notification. I have a red "1" badge that won't go away.

I guess you can't win 'em all

Fair enough. But that's not something I notice. I usually upload photos from my iPhone.

That's more of a mobile Safari issue than anything. You can't even upload attachments to this site on it.

No, that is a YouTube video. A Facebook video is one that was uploaded to Facebook. Facebook videos will play using the iPhone video player and return you to the app.

I'd certainly pay $0.99 for a functional facebook app. If only it were half as functional as Twitter for iPhone:p

I really doubt Facebook would ever charge for the app. They aren't going to put up barriers to entry for their website. Anyways, I think the problem is they devote almost zero resources to any of their mobile apps. I highly doubt the issue is they don't have the money to fund development. Why they choose to ignore mobile, I have no clue. Personally, I think that is a huge mistake but Facebook seemingly doesn't care about mobile atm.
