I bought my wife a new Galaxy watch 8 yesterday to track some health metrics. Just want to let everyone know it does not work unless you have a samsung phone as well. So we will be returning it and going with Gard Pro watches that give us the health sensors we need on pixels.

But there's 3rd party apps to help facilitate in syncing Health data... like this one below.

I have a Galaxy Fold and use Pixel watch... luckily I don't have any concerns with syncing data across these two devices because FitBit app. But nowadays phone companies want you using their accessories to get the most out of the product, especially with earbuds.

Had the Galaxy watch Ultra paired to my Pixel 10 Pro with no issues, all health features worked well. Just needed a little work around but it was a 5 min effort.

That one is fine, but the BP and ECG is behind a samsung wall. The pixel watch is basically a fitbit with wear os baked in too.

I have a Galaxy watch 7, if it can do that I didn't use it when I had a Samsung phone. I'm ok with the health data I get but it is limiting to use a mismatched phone and watch and it's annoying.
Yes, it is. We purchased these two devices to use these features. I have been battling BP issues and I am trying to get myself back to the point where I don't need to take meds anymore for it, so I am going to eat better and exercise more. My wife has been having flutters in her chest a bit so the ECG sensor was the reason I bought it for her.

So I am returning them to the store and ordering Gard Pro watches for us. They have the features we want, and they are very affordable.

Are the watches on one ui 8 or still 7?

I am not completely sure. I don't think that makes a difference since they are "paywalled" behind having to have a samsung phone to use them.
It does make a difference. If they are on one ui 7 there is a modified smh app on xda you can install to get the blood pressure and ecg to work with any android phone. It has been blocked by Samsung on one ui 8 but the developer is releasing his own app in the near future to fix with one ui 8.

They are on 8. I am not interested in forking anything to make stuff work. I am returning them and get the Gard Pros.

I wouldn't trust a wrist based BP monitor. When I had a galaxy watch ultra you had to calibrate it every month so I stuck with my arm monitor.

I agree that it's not a fail proof machine, however, when I am away from home for extended periods, or when I feel "not right" it's an extra method to keep track. I have an arm monitor at home.
