Anyone know why the Health App and Activity App steps don't match up on my Apple Watch?

The Activity App list 8,809 and the Health App 11,170.

Could it be because I just got the watch today?

The Health app reads steps both from the Activity app and from the iPhone itself. For example right now I have 8161 steps in the Activity app and 9634 in the Health app. The extra steps are from the iPhone accelerometer. Unfortunately it’s always been this way. I’ve never found a way to disable the steps being read from my iPhone.

So which one is more accurate? I'm so confused by this, I would think the Watch would be more accurate.

Hm. Mine both show 10,944 right now.

I do notice a lag between doing an activity and the rings being updated.

So this can be subjective. I work at Xerox as a Printer Technician, so when I’m carrying parts of cases of paper around my lab, then my AW isn’t registering steps as my arms aren’t moving. My iPhone does register the steps when it is in my pocket. However I do find the AW to be more accurate for step count in general.

I use an app (StepsApp) on the phone and watch, and it's really handy say when grocery shopping, and you can have both hands on the cart. The phone in my back pocket records steps, and when I check the watch, the steps count "syncs up", giving me the total steps, by counting both the phone, and watch.
