The foundation for Health is there. Everything can be read in or exported out. What doesn't exist is a polished interface. The first iPhone didn't do copy/paste. The first iPad couldn't run more than 1 program at a time. Comparatively speaking, the AW is pretty finished.

I absolutely agree Apple needs to do more with Health - it's my aggregation point of choice so I want better tools - but it's early. The AW has barely been out a year. Things just don't move that fast although we always expect them to go faster. It's taken most of a year just to get another option for a USB-C hub for my MacBook!

Remind me again -- was it Apple or Fitbit who decided to not allow step count data specifically logged by the AW to be used for Fitbit "competitions"?

Other apps use AW's step data, so it's not a technical problem.

I think it is Fitbit that does not count manually logged steps (or imported because of the same risk) for competitions and challenges. Fitbit will still use the phone's MotileTrack step counter for steps, because that cannot be fudged.

I can see both sides. I agree, Apple should have a better app that displays all the data it captures to better present it to you. But I agree with Zhenya, the foundation is there. The Apple Watch wasn't just created as a dedicated fitness device. It's more than just that. So it won't feel fully polished. I think as time goes on, it will get better and better.
